Great White North Design (“we”, “us”) builds websites and online stores for businesses across Canada. We’re based in Norfolk County, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us.
- Email, text and phone. Anything you send to info@greatwhitenorthdesign.ca, text or tell us when you call 437-676-3411: usually your name, contact details, business name, website address and your message.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- reply to your message, run the teardown you asked for, or prepare a quote;
- deliver and support the work if you become a client;
- keep records we’re required to keep for accounting and tax purposes.
Who else sees it
- Our web host (Hostinger) stores the website and processes email. Their servers may be outside Canada, so your information may be subject to the laws of the country where it’s stored.
- Service providers we use to do the work, such as hosting, email, and accounting tools, and only as much as each one needs.
- Anyone legally entitled to it, such as authorities acting under a valid court order.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that don’t turn into a project for up to 24 months, then delete them. We keep client records for as long as the working relationship lasts, plus the period Canadian tax law requires (currently six years).
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Admin accounts use strong passwords, and access is limited to the people who do the work. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it, where we’re not required to keep it;
- stop contacting you.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
